Interfaith Works invited Window Seat to facilitate an oral history project as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. Over the past few months, a team of 7 IW staff, board members, and volunteers conducted 10 audio recorded interviews with their peers. Together, these recordings tell a story of people coming together around shared values–of humility, inclusivity, interconnectedness, compassion, and social justice–to respond to ever emerging needs in our community. And they provide a small window into IW’s collective action from the perspective of a handful of people who have contributed to this work over the last five decades. You can experience these stories at the 50th anniversary event through an audio exhibit. Listen to memories about the evolution of IW commitment to sheltering, from its earliest efforts to visions for the future. Learn about the origins of rituals like Day of Remembrance and Moment of Blessing. Hear reflections on both the challenges and strengths of being an interfaith organization. There will be opportunities to share your own memories and to express care and gratitude to others in the IW community through interactive activities during the event.
